Job Description
The Director of Research will oversee and enhance the research program by assisting OPCVM faculty as they engage in the research process. The Director of Research works to improve research opportunities, funding and working conditions at LMU-OPCVM. The Director of Research is responsible for creating and maintaining the strategic plan for LMU-OPCVM research collaborating with the Associate Dean of Research and Basic Sciences, LMU-OPCVM administration, and department chairs
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in related field Minimum 2 years relevant experience in research development

Job Duties
- Collects and collates data regarding faculty and staff research for the College
- Manages OPCVM research lab initiatives: Orders supplies, maintains inventory and stock levels of supplies necessary for lab activities. Assists with troubleshooting efforts
- Provides training, technical expertise, and assistance to the graduate and DVM students in the performance of duties related to their assigned projects in addition to their own projects.
- Maintains proper records including copies of all documentation for research projects
- Follows SOPs and guidance of the principal investigator (PI)
- Works collaboratively with faculty members within the OPCVM research initiatives
- Initiates intramural grant process and reports concise data to appropriate parties for review
- Maintains accurate records regarding OPCVM intramural grants including budget spreadsheets
- Supervises OPCVM intramural grant review process and tracks budget for grant recipients throughout project period
- Coordinates with faculty and students regarding OPCVM sponsored student research assistants and scholars
- Plans and executes research events such as Research Day
- Maintains budget spreadsheets for Office of Research
- Maintains privacy and confidentiality.
- Supervises administrative assistants, work-study students, or any individuals assigned by supervisor.
- Hold faculty development sessions based on the needs of the faculty
- Keep a comprehensive record of research and grant activities for LMU-OPCVM
- Serve as a member of the LMU-OPCVM Research Committee
- Draft OARs and Program Reviews in coordination with the Department Chair
- Assist with preparation of end-of-year reports for the Board of Trustees as requested
- Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the advancement of university programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites
- Support student recruitment efforts
- Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
- Participate on university committees
- Perform other duties as assigned
