Senior Technician - Biological Sciences

• Remuneration: $111,341 to $120,557 pa (HEW6) (inclusive of $94,084 to $101,872 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
• Location: Gardens Point

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Technician - Biological Sciences to join Faculty Operations, Faculty of Science.

This role is responsible for the effective, safe and sustainable technical support of a range of laboratory facilities, specialist equipment and relevant field-based activities. Drawing on extensive knowledge and experience in biological and environmental sciences, the position delivers high-quality technical support to academics, researchers and students within the Faculty. While the primary focus of this role is to support teaching and learning activities, the position also contributes to the operation and support of research facilities. By maintaining awareness of current and emerging support requirements, the role actively contributes to the continuous improvement of technical services that underpin the Faculty’s research, learning, teaching, and engagement programs.

The Faculty Operations organisational area consists of Professional Staff providing operational support to the faculty, and includes: • Financial Management • Technical Services & Space Management The Technical Services & Space unit comprises of: • Environmental, Geological and Biological Sciences technical support team • Chemistry and Physical Sciences technical support team • Space, Assets, Logistics and Technology support team Faculty Operations is led by the Faculty Operations Manager and is supported by the Senior Management Accountant and the Technical Services & Space Manager..

What you need to succeed

1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience in biological/environmental laboratory or industry environment.
2. Demonstrated ability to interpret client requirements and develop detailed undergraduate practical teaching support solutions using a wide range of skills and experience.
3. Demonstrated ability to apply fundamental biological and environmental sciences principles to a variety of educational and/or industrial applications in the pursuit of academic excellence.
4. Demonstrated experience in preparing clear and concise documentation and communicating effectively with a range of diverse groups.
5. Proven ability to prioritise tasks, critically evaluate systems and processes and work collaboratively to achieve team-based outcomes in a complex and changing environment.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective health and safety culture.
7. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
8. Valid open Queensland drivers licence class C.
