Athletic Trainer
ATHLETIC TRAINER
Biola University, a non-denominational Christian University in La Mirada, California is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Trainer. This is a 10 month full-time appointment with full benefits. Approximate dates of August 1 through May 30.
Job Summary
The athletic trainer works under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine administering care to student athletes competing in the University’s athletic program. The athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program. Specific sporting assignment TBD. Other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prevention of athletic injury and illness
- Evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injury
- Provide general health education to student athletes
- Athletic training administrative duties as assigned
- Assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions
- Record keeping and documentation of injury and illness for assigned teams.
- Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to coordinate care for student athletes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization with professional experience in collegiate athletics. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified by and in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Current CPR and AED for Professional Rescuer certification
- Familiarity with NCAA governing rules
