Background

The Student Health and Well-Being Department provides student focused, holistic and academic support to students with a range of learning differences and disabilities, some with complex support requirements. The Disability and Neurodiversity Team are seeking to recruit an experienced professional practitioner who has a student-focused practice, knowledge of an eclectic range of effective support strategies and excellent communication skills to join them in a rapidly developing and dynamic department.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include screening students, planning and reviewing of Student Support plans, support programme design and facilitation. The post holder will also be responsible for the effective liaison with academic and professional staff regarding student needs across the university, ensuring that an inclusive learning environment is created and maintained. They will act as an intermediary between students and staff to ensure holistic student flourishing. Other responsibilities include assisting with raising awareness and promoting understanding of neurodiversity across the university and liaising with external agencies.

Person Specification

An experienced Disability and Neurodiversity practitioner who has a genuine understanding of the complexities of Disabilities and Neurodiversity, with a particular specialism in Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia/SpLD and demonstrate a passion for inclusion and equity. The post-holder will have a student-centred approach to practice and have experience employing an eclectic range of holistic strategies to provide an inclusive learning environment and promote student autonomy and flourishing. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively and flexibly.
