About us
This is an exciting time to join the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Data-Driven Health (DRIVE-Health; www.drive-health.org.uk).
The DRIVE-Health CDT will appoint and train a minimum of 85 PhD students in health data science over five cohorts in covering 8 years, from 2024.
Co-created with NHS Trusts, national and international industry and charity partners, DRIVE-Health is delivering impactful research to enable health data science and tech skills for the future.
This new role will be based in the King’s Doctoral College and work closely with academic and professional services teams in Health Faculties and across the College. The King’s Doctoral College (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/doctoralcollege) empowers our doctoral researchers to achieve their ambitions and is a hub for everyone involved in doctoral research at King’s. We help build an inclusive doctoral research community, bringing together students, supervisors and staff.
About the role
The primary focus of this role is to provide professional services leadership for the CDT, ensuring the CDT’s delivery of its objectives, effectively managing and delivering all processes and operations. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role requiring close collaboration with academic and professional services staff and active involvement in all aspects of delivery.
The DRIVE-Health CDT Manager will work in partnership with the CDT Directors and the CDT Management team, as well as the King’s Doctoral College (KDC) and will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of administration and delivery, whilst contributing to the strategy and operational development of the Centre.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) post, offered on an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- First degree or other appropriate qualifications;
- Strong management skills (people and projects), with a good appreciation for business and management tools (business planning, marketing, operational and organisational processes and systems, budgetary control)
- Able to lead others, to think strategically and to contribute to strategic direction.
- In-depth understanding of postgraduate training and funding issues and management of postgraduate education, e.g. UKRI training grants and studentships.
- Excellent operational leadership, organisational and time management skills, including a flexible approach to managing a constant and varied portfolio of requests; allocating resources and able to meet multiple fixed deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels, with both internal and external stakeholders
- Experience and confidence in handling multiple, complex budgets – excellent analytical and numeracy skills
- Substantial experience in project management and implementation, including report-writing, preferably in an academic environment implementation, including report-writing, preferably in an academic environment
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of university student and finance data systems; external UKRI studentships database.
- Postgraduate level qualification; a management qualification

Grade and Salary: £53,947 - £63,350 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
