E-Resources Access and Discovery Librarian
Three-year term position with possibility of renewal.
Stanford University Libraries is seeking a full-time E-Resources Access and Discovery Librarian to join the Acquisitions & Collections Services Department. About the Position:
The Electronic Resources Access and Discovery Librarian supports technical infrastructure and workflows that enable intuitive and stable access to Stanford University Libraries (SUL) electronic collections. The incumbent collaborates broadly with SUL, University IT, Coordinate Libraries, and service and content providers to optimize discovery and access to electronic resources. The Librarian stays abreast of emerging tools, trends, and best practices related to e-resource access, discovery, user privacy, authentication, and authorization and will evaluate and implement new products, standards, and technologies.
As a member of the Acquisitions & Collections Services Department, the Librarian works in a team-based environment to communicate internally and build external relationships with vendors and publishers, and provide documentation and status updates in shared systems such as JIRA, FOLIO, Confluence.

Position is eligible for hybrid remote work; a minimum of two days a week are required on-site at Lathrop Library.
Core Duties*:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of resource tools.
- Assist in analyzing the technical and access needs for a unit of the library system.
- Provide information on library activities, rules and services to patrons and staff.
- Manage a unit within a library.
Job responsibilities:
E-Resources Access
- Manages team Electronic Resources Specialists responsible for establishing and ensuring continuing access to licensed electronic resources.
- Oversees technical support and troubleshooting of issues related to electronic access: provide training for troubleshooters to address emergent problems and ongoing needs; work with service and content providers to solve common e-resource access issues
- Closely work with University IT to facilitate SSO implementation with select content providers to enable authentication, authorization, and access while protecting patron privacy
- In collaboration with managers and staff in Technical Services and other departments, design effective workflows for electronic resources; document and adjust policies and processes as needed.
E-Resources Discovery Management
- Configure, manage, and support enhancements to the OpenURL link resolver and knowledge base (EBSCO HLM), discovery platform (EDS), technologies enabling remote access (EZproxy, Lean Library), license management (FOLIO ERM), and other relevant e-resource management software or services; test and implement enhancements and new features
- Collaborate with Digital Library Systems and Services and Metadata colleagues, as well as subject librarians, to improve discoverability and ensure reliable access to electronic resource collections in the library discovery ecosystem
- Plan and lead system migrations related to e-resource management
- Streamline and automate various aspects of Electronic Resources Unit's work, propose enhancements and optimizations to existing workflows

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- Advanced Degree in Library Science or a relevant academic discipline with demonstrated understanding of academic libraries or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of relevant aspects of library operations including understanding of contemporary library practices, trends and emerging technologies.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
- Effective problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated broad knowledge of library discovery environments, office automation software, and online resources.
- Ability to quickly learn and use print and online tools and resources and in areas of specialization.
- Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills.
Other Relevant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May Include:
- Experience reviewing library resource license agreements
- Document and versioning management
- Proven success communicating with stakeholders and team members, patrons, and content providers
- Ability to balance multiple projects and set priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
- Curiosity and interest in learning licensing processes and related Acquisitions applications
