Early Achievers Project Specialist
Job Summary
The Early Achievers Project Specialist supports the Early Achievers grant which is a student financial aid program to help employed child care providers and early learning educators complete certificates and associate degrees in early childhood education. The Project Specialist serves as an assistant to the primary contact for the Early Achievers (EA) Scholarship program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology.
Most work will be completed remotely but must be available to come to campus for meetings and/or events. This is a grant-funded, temporary, part-time position, scheduled for approximately 20 hours each week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage the Early Achievers site in Canvas: add/remove students, send surveys, review survey responses, connect students to resources, follow-up by phone with students who do not respond
- Compile data and complete draft of quarterly report for the Early Achievers program
- Perform record keeping duties for student information utilizing Excel spreadsheets
- Utilize databases to verify student data and eligibility
- Send documents to employers and students for eSignature
- Monitor student application for certificate and degrees, track academic standing and enrollment to program completion
- Verify student employment with annual employer signature and quarterly student self-attestation
- Prioritize and organize workload
- Manage time and projects to meet deadlines
- Manager textbook distribution with bookstore
- Other grant duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree or higher; Bachelors degree preferred
- Two years of related work experience
- Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong organization skills; detail-oriented; ability to move from one task to another effectively and prioritize time and duties efficiently and work with limited supervision
- Ability to work independently and with staff, students, and vendors as an effective team member
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, ages, and ability levels
DESIRED:
- Experience working at a community college and with a diverse population;
- Fluent in Spanish
- Experience with the Canvas Learning Management System
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Compensation & Work Schedule
Hourly rate of pay is $30.00
This is a grant-funded, part-time position, scheduled for approximately 20 hours each week. Hours worked will be planned with program dean and faculty director.
