Exam Supervisor/Rover

  • Multiple casual positions available, commencing October 2024 
  • Salary HEW 3 + 25% casual loading & 11.5% Superannuation  
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University 

About You 

The position provides exams support to the RMIT Academic Governance and Systems. Supervisors are in control of their respective course exam paper/s and should remain in the venue for the duration of the exam. Supervisors will be required to devote their whole attention to the continuous supervision and assistance of students in a diligent, friendly and responsible manner (this includes moving unobtrusively amongst the candidates at spasmodic intervals). Supervisors will be required to provide assistance to students if and when requested by them in a courteous manner. Rovers are responsible for checking the bathroom areas prior to and during the exam to ensure that they are clean and free from any material that could be used for cheating. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Be familiar and understand the published rules and regulations in the exam supervisor’s manual relating to exam supervisor / rover functions 
  • Apply policies, practices and standards under the Coordinator, Examinations direction to solve problems as required 
  • Ensure the set up and exam distribution of exam papers/materials per student desk is complete prior to students being allowed into the venue 
  • Assist students into the exam venue and find seats 
  • Student attendance lists are completed and accurate 
  • The exam collection of completed exam papers/materials per student is collected and accounted for the respective group of students 
  • Ensure students remain quiet and that no writing occurs while the process of collecting completed exam papers/materials is being done 
  • Ensure students remain seated until all completed exam papers/materials are collected 
  • Remain in the exam venue until the exam room is cleared and ready for the next session 
  • Report on all incidences 

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • Student focused mindset. Maintaining a high level of vigilance and responding to student needs in a prompt and timely manner 
  • Ability to detect any disturbance/interference/breaking of rules 
  • Confidentiality and compliance 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language 
  • Work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Relevant exam supervisor/invigilator experience is highly desirable 
  • Experience within a Higher Education Sector environment is highly desirable 

Availability: 

  • Invigilator training date: Thursday 10th October 
  • Exam Invigilation dates: Monday 28th October to Friday 8th November 2024
