Job Description

The Eating Disorder Specialist (Psychologist, Social Worker, or Mental Health Counselor) will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to lead the University Counseling Center's work with students presenting with body image and eating concerns. Additionally, this clinician will contribute to the overall work of the UCC by providing drop-in triage assessment services, psychoeducational/skill building workshops, risk assessments and crisis intervention services, and consultation and outreach services to the University community.

Clinical Services and Crisis Intervention

  • Provides triage assessments and manages a clinical caseload of students presenting with a broad range of psychological concerns and diagnoses with a primary emphasis on the treatment of body image, disordered eating, and eating disorders through short-term evidence based individual and group counseling.
  • Coordinates all UCC eating disorder treatment services, including the design, implementation, reporting, and evaluation of services.
  • Manages crisis situations, conducts risk assessments, and facilitates hospitalizations as needed.
  • Provides after-hours emergency coverage for 3 - 4 weeks per calendar year.

Campus Collaboration

  • Leads the multi-disciplinary Eating Disorder Consultation Team in developing comprehensive treatment plans and recommendations for students with eating disorders.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to design psychoeducational programming for students and the campus on topics of body image, eating concerns, and mental health and wellness.
  • Participates as an integral member of the Division of Student Affairs and Student Health and Wellness area and provides consultation to members of the University community related to student mental health and well-being.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ph.D., Psy. D., or Ed.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Masters of Social Work, or Masters in Counseling from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of specialized clinical experience in the treatment of eating disorders OR hold a current Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) designation through IAEDP.
  • Clinically licensed or license eligible in the State of Indiana.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crisis response, risk assessment, and evidence-based treatment.
  • Experience providing culturally responsive treatment to a diverse client population.
  • Strong organizational skills, follow through, and the ability to work independently in a responsible manner are all essential skills for this position.
  • Upholds standards of ethical practice and professional boundaries.

Additional Information

Salary Range: Commensurate with education, licensure, and professional experience.
