Description
Working collaboratively with other library staff, perform library operations, including any or all as described, below.
Examples of Duties
Circulation Duties (e.g., greeting patrons, answering first-tier references, checking materials in/out, verifying patron information, making referrals to librarians and other library staff as necessary)
Opening and closing the library building
Processing reserve materials (e.g. adding and removing reserve materials, communicating with faculty and librarians) Processing interlibrary loan (ILL) (e.g. receiving and fulfilling requests for external and internal patrons)
Digitizing/scanning materials (e.g. scanning book chapters for ILL).
Processing acquisitions (e.g. in collaboration with librarians, review requests, place orders) Copy cataloging new materials (e.g. locating appropriate records in Alms and/or OCLC Connexion, modifying records (including call numbers), importing and exporting records from Connexion and within Alma)
Processing incoming or outgoing physical materials
Perform other related duties as requested, including but not limited to attending New College Training and other professional development programs such as required compliance training, safety training, and other programs that assist in the performance of the job
Maintaining collections, including longer-term projects consisting of cleaning and moving materials and/or shelving. Assisting with and supporting library events and exhibits
Training student workers
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED and five years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience
Preferred Qualifications
Library experience. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or Canva
