Job Description
The Department of Educational Studies in Ohio University's Patton College of Education invites nominations and applications for an adjunct instructor pool within the department of Educational Studies. Nominees will then be requested to complete the application process.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate(s) may be assigned to teach graduate students on the Athens campus and/or online.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph. D. or Ed. D. earned prior to appointment, from an accredited university, in education, educational research, social sciences, or related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in qualitative research methodologies.
- Evidence of effective in-person and/or online experience teaching adults.
- Excellent communication, collegial, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with research ethics and the Institutional Review Board processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Record of scholarly publications using qualitative approaches.
- Prior experience teaching in graduate-level research courses.
- Commitment to working with students from all backgrounds.
- Experience teaching in online or hybrid environments using Canvas or a similar Learning Management System.
- Ability to connect research methods to applied problems of practice in education.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in educational research in one or more of the following areas: PK-12 education, higher education, community-based programs, educational organizations, policy arenas, and other education-related settings.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted or digital qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo, MaxQDA, ATLAS.ti, Dedoose, or emerging AI platforms).
