Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare technical documentation including drawings, specifications, and calculations using AutoCAD, and review shop drawings, RFIs, and other construction submittals.
- Support project execution by assisting project managers, coordinating with external consultants, and conducting site visits to resolve field issues and ensure design intent is met.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited program
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in electrical systems design including one or more of the following areas; power distribution, lighting controls, lighting, low voltage, and fire alarm systems.
- Must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
- Excellent teamwork and customer communications skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum seven (7) years progressively responsible related work electrical facility design experience that demonstrates a sound knowledge of current principles and practices in a specialized field of engineering.
- Advanced degree (e.g., Masters' degree in Electrical Engineering).
- Professional engineering license in New York State or EIT.
- Proficient in Revit.
- Knowledge of medium voltage distribution and transmission.
OTHER INFORMATION:

- Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Brookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full annual salary range for this position is $92300 - $147700. You will be placed at the level and salary commensurate with your experience. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
The Modernization Project Office (MPO) is responsible for design and implementation of Brookhaven National Laboratory's construction and infrastructure improvements. MPO is a full-service project management, engineering and construction management organization. Services include project management, engineering design, cost estimating, construction/construction management and inspections.
