In addition, the candidate needs to work on the maintenance and daily operations of the MDT system, as well as conduct electronics and detector studies for the Future Circular Collider-ee. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students involved in these projects.

The Michigan ATLAS group actively participates in diverse physics analyses - including Higgs, electroweak processes, and searches for new phenomena - as well as the operation of the ATLAS MDT detector and its Phase-I and Phase-II upgrades. We are seeking an exceptional candidate with a proven track record in the development of both particle detectors and high-speed electronics. The start date can be mutually negotiated and can be as early as March 1, 2026. A PhD degree in experimental particle physics or fast electronics design is highly preferred for this position.

To receive full consideration, interested candidates are encouraged to submit their application materials by Feb 15, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position will remain open until filled.

The selected candidate will be required to:

  1. Install, integrate, and commission the ATLAS MDT detector for the Phase-2 upgrade - 50%
  2. Maintain and operate the ATLAS MDT detector and frontend electronics - 35%
  3. Conduct electronics and detector studies for FCC-ee - 10%
  4. Supervise undergraduate and graduate students working on this project - 5%

3-5 years professional experience in electronics engineering or related field is required. A bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, or related field is required.

A PhD degree in experimental particle physics or fast electronics design is highly preferred for this position.
