WVU School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is actively recruiting a full-time, non-tenure Assistant Professor/Embryologist faculty position who wants to build a legacy while also helping to educate future physicians and PhD's. The position is clinically based at our Center for Reproductive Medicine location in Morgantown, WV with research space available nearby. The faculty member will be expected to provide excellent clinical care through technical services performed in the embryology and andrology laboratories and to teach medical students, OBGYN residents and graduate students. Scholarly activities are required. The position is expected to be dedicated 50% clinically and 50% research in the area of interest in the field of reproduction and/or genetics.
As an expert in reproductive endocrinology, fertilization, and embryology, persons accepting the positions would expect to teach college students - both undergraduate and graduate, medical student, and resident physician on these subjects. The manner of teaching would be in an ad hoc fashion. The person may be asked to present lectures or significant portions of a courses concerning these topics.
This position is a laboratory only position. Candidates would only work in the CRM laboratory(ies). These are highly technical and difficult skill sets. The person performing the task needs to have much training in these techniques in human tissue or other mammal tissue. Typically, this training is acquired as one is pursuing advanced degrees. MD or DO physicians do not get this training in their education and thus it is outside of their scope of practice.
Qualifications
- Qualified applicants must hold a PhD degree in Cell and Molecular Biology or related area.
- Currently licensed or eligible for a WV Laboratory License.
- Five (5) years of experience in Transgenic Techniques and Micromanipulation.
- Knowledge of Animal Reproductive Techniques.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will remain open until filled.
