Primary Purpose of the Position: The Emergency Management Specialist supports Winston-Salem State University's emergency management, preparedness, response, recovery, mitigation, and business continuity programs. The position works closely with University departments, the State of North Carolina, local emergency management agencies, public safety agencies, and other external partners to strengthen the University's ability to prepare for and respond to emergencies. compliance with applicable State of North Carolina emergency management requirements, federal emergency management standards, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), and other applicable laws, regulations, policies, and best practices.
Preferred Years Experience,Skills, Training , Education:
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain emergency plans and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with University personnel, government agencies, first responders, and community partners.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency and high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and emergency management-related technology.
