Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time administrative work experience (student experience may be considered).
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in sales, fundraising, university relations, talent acquisition/corporate recruiting, career services, event planning, or related fields. Experience using project management tools to organize projects and ensure timely completion. Experience working in higher education.
Brief Description of Duties: The Employer Relations Assistant joins a high-performance employer outreach team who create and steward employer relationships for Stony Brook University. You will proactively support the team to cultivate relationships with employers for internships and full-time roles, increase employer participation through direct referrals, professional engagement, and cold calling, and coordinate recruitment programs connecting qualified students with employers. You thrive as part of a fast-paced, continuous motion team that strives for our personal best every day with a high level of independence, ability to prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.
Employer Relationship Development
- Support the Employer Relations (ER) team in identifying and researching potential employers for recruitment opportunities through online research, outreach, networking, attendance at industry events, and cold calling. Assist in strengthening existing employer partnerships and contribute to the implementation of monthly goals for prospecting and relationship management. Contribute to Career Center Early Engagement Pipeline Programs.
Student Engagement & Programming
- Provide support to the Employer Relations (ER) team in fostering the personal and professional growth of undergraduate students by helping to coordinate opportunities for meaningful industry engagement related to career preparation and hiring. Assist with planning and executing recruitment events in both in-person and virtual formats, and support large-scale employer programs such as job and internship fairs, on-campus information sessions, meet-ups, and networking events. Some events may occur during evenings or weekends.
Administration /Information Management
- Extensive use of our job portal, Handshake, and other technology tools, including a CRM. Review, approve, and tag industry-relevant opportunities. Collect data and develop reports.
Professional Development and Committee Involvement
- Participating in opportunities that promote learning, growth, and development (i.e., classes, training, webinars, conferences, committees, etc.). Contributing to the Division of Student Affairs by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs (i.e., campus-wide traditions, events, programs, etc. Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Salary: $60,000 + $4,000 Location Pay = $64,000 Total Compensation. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly. Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
