EMS Simulation Coordinator Instructor
Summary of Position
The EMS Department at RRCC is seeking part-time Simulator Coordinator Instructors. This position reports to Robert Vroman. The work schedule for this position will vary based on enrollment, at the Lakewood campus location. May require hours outside of normal work schedule.
Under indirect supervision this position will support the simulation component of courses within the department. This position works closely with the EMS program director and course instructors to ensure each student has an appropriate educational experience in the simulation and lab setting. This will include assisting with the coordination and implementation of lab and simulation events, ensuring equipment is used appropriately and in accordance with its design, overseeing equipment operation, set up and breakdown, including patient simulators, task trainers, and associated equipment. The coordinator will be responsible for keeping all lab space, simulation space, and ambulances, in a manner that they are ready for each days educational events. This includes ensuring the needed supplies are on hand, stocked, and performing maintenance on task trainers and simulators as needed. Additionally, the simulation coordinator will assist the program director with inventory, inventory control, and ordering supplies, and may assist the program director or faculty with the operation and programming of high-fidelity mannequins.
The role may require up to 28 hours per week for a duration of up to 9 months, depending on departmental need and budget. The finalist must designate Colorado as their primary work location, including for any online instruction.
This posting will remain open on a continuous basis, and applicants will be selected as needed until the position is filled or the posting expires.
The compensation for this position is $35.88/ hourly, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt temporary staff position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work with indirect supervision
- Basic proficiency with computers including the Microsoft office suite and the ability to quickly learn new software such as programming software for patient simulators
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Colorado driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an EMT class or higher
- Current Colorado EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic
- At least one year of active field experience as an EMS provider
- Prior experience as an EMS educator
- Experience that demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in state and national EMS regulatory requirements and education standards at all levels
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
Advertised Hourly Pay
The compensation for this position is $35.88 /hourly, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt temporary staff position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
