Energy Industry Case Study Lecturer

NYU Tulsa is seeking a local, part-time instructor to teach "The American Clean Energy Industry: Case Study Tulsa" in Spring 2026 (January 21 – May 8, 2026). The course is sponsored by NYU Abu Dhabi and is part of the Engineering curriculum. The course is taught in English, with 15 in-person instructional weeks. Students will include a mix of undergraduate and interdisciplinary majors. The course schedule will be determined in consultation with the final candidate.

The instructor will be responsible for designing the course in close collaboration with NYU Abu Dhabi, preparing and delivering all classes, grading student work, and holding at least one office hour per week. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in the energy industry. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity of intellectual life at NYU Tulsa.

Course Details

This course explores the global and American energy industries and the shift from fossil fuels to green energy through scientific, economic, policy, and ethical lenses. Emphasizing Tulsa’s significant role in the American energy industry, it covers the structure and history of the energy sector, renewable energy technologies, and the economics of transitioning to green energy. The course discusses how politics, public policy, international agreements, and ethical considerations shape the energy landscape, focusing on Tulsa as a case study to examine local impacts and strategies. In a major assignment for the class, the students will collaborate on a semester-long industry challenge with a local energy-focused company.

We are seeking candidates with a mix of education/training and professional practice, as well as teaching/instructional experience. A terminal degree (PhD, JD, MPS, MBA) in Engineering, Energy Management, Sustainability, or a related field, would be a plus for qualified candidates. Candidates who bring interdisciplinary and project-based approaches to teaching are encouraged to apply. Ideally, applicants will have two to three years of university-level teaching experience; experience working with undergraduates is especially valuable. In some cases, significant professional experience in the energy industry may be considered in place of academic teaching experience.

Salary will be based on part-time faculty rates for the course and location. Other terms and conditions will be discussed with the successful applicant. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the United States at the time of appointment.

All applications must be submitted via Interfolio at https://apply.interfolio.com/173350. All candidates must submit the following:

  • cover letter
  • current CV

If you have any questions, please contact: tulsa.academics@nyu.edu.
