  • A demonstrated student-centered teaching philosophy, emphasizing inclusive pedagogical practices and adaptable course design for learners with varying preparation and learning styles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A background or specialization in women's literature, with the ability to teach courses highlighting diverse voices and perspectives.
  • Experience or scholarly engagement with editing and publication processes in academic contexts (e.g., editing journals, supervising student publications, or mentoring scholarly writing). A record of or commitment to integrating publication-based experiences into coursework (e.g., editing workshops, collaborative publication projects).
  • Evidence of innovative approaches to teaching composition and literature, particularly in contexts emphasizing equity, access, and representation.
  • Experience contributing to departmental or campus initiatives supporting writing and publication opportunities for students.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties as required of all full-time tenured track GBC faculty, such as, non-instructional duties: advising students, committee work, and department duties as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members of the department and college in pursuing departmental and institutional goals with a genuine spirit of cooperation, and flexibility in a diverse college setting.
  • Instructional development, delivery and assessment of assigned courses.
  • Teach a combination of day, evening, and distance delivery classes (interactive video and Internet) as needed to serve the GBC service area.
  • Handle administrative duties related to teaching and program development including strategic planning and assessment.
  • Travel by car throughout the GBC service area as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation (as per the Americans with Disabilities Act).
  • Accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
