"Entertainment Technology Assistant"

Job Summary

Bucknell University's Department of Theatre and Dance is seeking an Entertainment Technology Assistant, to begin immediately or no later than mid-August 2026, for a one- or two-year appointment. The Entertainment Technology Assistant will work 40 hours per week during the academic year (34 weeks per year). This position is considered a limited-benefits eligible, non-exempt staff position.

The successful applicant must be self-motivated, responsible, and a creative problem solver. The person in this position must be able to work efficiently and independently to support theatre and dance productions. This position is intended for talented college graduates seeking to pursue stage technology and design as a career and who wish to gain more experience in preparation for graduate school or further professional work while developing their portfolio.

Job Duties

Primary Duties:

• Stage electrician
• Student technical assistant management
• Technical production engineering
• Carpentry and rigging
• Audio technician
• Design presentation

This list of duties and tasks is not exhaustive; additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Creative opportunities are available for portfolio development, design, and strengthening of skills under the guidance of department faculty and professional staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic skills in stage electrics, scenery construction, drafting (CAD preferred), stage lighting, audio, etc.
• Valid U.S. driver's license
• Bachelor of Arts or BFA in Theatre or a related field
• Successful candidates will have some professional stage design/technology experience
• Familiarity with live event lighting or sound systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or BFA focused in live event design and technology
• Some professional stage design/technology experience in live event production

Professional Certifications Preferred

• ESTA / ETCP Certification - Rigging / Entertainment Electrician
• USITT eSET Certification

Knowledge Areas and Skills Preferred

• Vectorworks
• ETC EOS family lighting systems
• Yamaha or Allen and Heath digital audio consoles
• Dante
• Networking for live entertainment
• Digital media

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 60 pounds and work from a ladder

Salary Range: 17.16-21.45

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
