With ground-breaking brain science, path-breaking performances, creative start-ups, big data, big ambitions, hands-on learning, and a whole lot of robots, CMU doesn't imagine the future, we invent it. If you're passionate about joining a community that challenges the curious to deliver work that matters, your journey starts here!
Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science (SCS) is widely recognized as one of the first and the best computer science programs in the world. Our programs train the next generation of innovators to take real-world problems and improve the way people live and work. We help students, faculty, staff, and alumni at all levels and all stages explore the commercial potential of their innovations and research.
Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs) serve as part-time coaches/mentors for students in our educational programs, who can provide technical expertise in addition to familiarity with diverse career paths. The Ray & Stephanie Lane Computational Biology Department is specifically recruiting an EIR with expertise in automated science and AI-in-the-loop scientific discovery to assist in a department and University priority focus on this area.
The EIR will work with the department for an initial appointment period of 1 academic year. The estimated time commitment is 10 hours per month, with a possibility for expanded hours as opportunities and resources to support student works and EIR effort became available.
The EIR program would recruit successful entrepreneurs with an interest in increased involvement in academic research. EIRs will be expected to be gateways to mentor and support trainees, participate in designing and running student research projects, and partner in grant writing and related strategic planning.
We are looking to hire one (1) EIR. Applicants must have experience with at least one of the listed industries below:
