Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern

Work Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm - Mon - Fri as fits to class schedule
Salary: $12.00 per hour (max of 26 hours per week)
Job Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern supports the organization’s commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace by assisting with inspections, audits, and compliance activities. This role provides hands-on experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and environmental reporting while helping investigate workplace incidents and maintain critical EHS documentation. The intern will also contribute to safety training and awareness initiatives, applying knowledge of workplace safety standards, environmental regulations, and pollution prevention practices. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, analytical, and effective communicators who are currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in a related field, and are comfortable working in both office and outdoor environments while adhering to required safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with safety inspections and audits
- Help investigate workplace incidents
- Support environmental compliance reporting
- Conduct safety training or awareness sessions
- Maintain EHS documentation and records
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled at Jacksonville State University as a Junior/Senior or graduate student
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in:
- Environmental Science
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Industrial Hygiene
- Environmental Engineering
