Cabrillo College is accepting applications to fill temporary, part-time faculty assignment(s) and to establish an eligibility pool for positions that may become available in 2025 Fall Semester & 2026 Spring Semester. The specific courses include:
- ES10 Introduction to Environmental Science
- ES10L Introduction to Environmental Science Lab
- ES15 Energy for a Sustainable Future
- ES20 Introduction to Environmental Policy and Economics
- ES50 Action for Sustainability
This position is open until the deadline or until filled. Primary work locations are in person at Aptos & Watsonville campuses and online.

Examples of Duties
- Teach assigned classes, which may include evening or off-campus assignments
- Engage in participatory governance committees, processes, research, service, and initiatives
- Maintain timely and accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress
- Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours
- Cooperate with and participate as required in District investigations and/or student grievance matters
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
- Complete required District trainings such as Title IX, Mandated Reporter, EEO/Diversity/Elimination of Bias, Workplace Safety, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation, of community college students, faculty and staff AND specific qualifications for each course as follows:
- For ES10 and ES10L: Master's in biological science, earth sciences, ecology, economics, environmental studies, geology, geophysics, government, international relations, meteorology, oceanography, paleontology, political science; or equivalent combinations as specified.
- For ES15: Similar Master's level qualifications in relevant disciplines or equivalent.
- For ES50: Master's in specified disciplines including communication and related fields, or equivalent.
Required Professional Expertise includes currency in the field, commitment to teaching strategies that enhance student success, effective communication skills, and ability to work with diverse populations.
Desired Qualifications
Successful teaching experience at the community college level, ability to employ innovative teaching techniques, experience teaching diverse student populations, successful online teaching experience, and knowledge of culturally-responsive pedagogical techniques.
Additional Information
Starting Salary: $1,599 - $2,454 per teaching unit, per semester. Assignments may be at various campus locations; days, evenings, and/or weekends.
