About the role

An academic sessional makes a substantial contribution to the teaching program, particularly at the undergraduate level. The position requires preparation and coordination of tutorials and workshops, consultation with students, assessment marking and attendance at meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator. The primary purpose of an academic sessional is to successfully run and manage their assigned tutorials or workshops within the discipline area.The School seeks expressions of interest from experienced Academics or Clinicians who have a passion for teaching. Teaching opportunities are available on a sessional basis in the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science program.We are looking for academic sessional staff with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following practice areas:

Biomechanics

Exercise Physiology

Functional Anatomy

Key Responsibilities

Conduct lectures/theoretical tutorials and/or workshops in consultation with the Discipline Lead.Consultation with students in relation to readings, weekly topics and assessment.Marking and providing feedback relating to assessment activities as set out by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.Attendance at meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.Manage short-term extension requests in line with University policy.Other duties as identified by the line manager or the National Head of School.Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct.Qualifications, skills & experienceBachelor of Exercise and Sport Science or Clinical Exercise Physiology.Postgraduate research or teaching qualifications are desirable.Knowledge and understanding of current scholarship and/or professional practice in the relevant discipline.Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes including online delivery.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to foster high levels of collegiality and ability to empathise with students.Proven ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines, in a busy education environment.Previous experience working in the tertiary education sector is desirable.How to applyIf this sounds like you, please email a cover letter and your CV.
