Job Description:
POST OBJECTIVES: GIS is seeking to appoint a Visiting Lecturer in Sports Analytics to contribute to the delivery of our postgraduate taught provision at Level 9. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking academic team committed to delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and student support. The successful candidate will bring both academic expertise and applied industry experience, enabling our postgraduate students to gain a critical understanding of the latest theoretical approaches, research-informed practice, and professional applications of performance analysis and sport analytics.
ABOUT GIS SYDNEY CAMPUS: The Master of Sport Analytics is delivered in partnership with the University of Newcastle at the GIS Sydney Campus which incorporates the University of Newcastle’s Sydney CBD campus on Elizabeth Street and Venues NSW’s Allianz Stadium and Sydney Cricket Ground. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment activities on postgraduate modules in performance analysis and sport analytics.
- Prepare and develop teaching materials that are current, relevant, and informed by both research and professional practice.
- Supervise and support postgraduate dissertation students, offering guidance on methodological design, data collection, and analysis.
- Provide academic support and feedback to students, helping them to achieve their full potential.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of curriculum content, embedding current industry practices, technologies, and analytical techniques.
- Engage with colleagues to ensure high-quality student experience across the programme.

Job Requirements:
Essential Criteria:
- A PhD in a relevant field (or near completion/working towards completion).
- Significant applied experience within performance analysis and/or sport analytics in an industry context (e.g., elite sport, applied consultancy, or professional practice).
- Evidence of teaching and/or training delivery, ideally within higher education at postgraduate level.
- Excellent subject knowledge of performance analysis methodologies, data analytics tools, and applied technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire postgraduate learners.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of supervising postgraduate research or applied projects.
- A track record of research applied consultancy, or publication in performance analysis and analytics.
- An established professional network within the sports performance and analytics sector.
