Your next career opportunity

Join the Equine Centre at the University of Melbourne's Werribee campus as an Equine Veterinary Nurse. In this dynamic role, you'll play a vital part in delivering exceptional care to equine patients, both in the hospital and on ambulatory visits. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced veterinarians and researchers, providing efficient nursing assistance and ensuring compliance with best practices. Additionally, you'll contribute to the practical training of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students, supporting their work-integrated learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Patient Care: Provide veterinary nursing support, horse handling, and assist with clinical procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Operational Support: Maintain supplies, equipment, and adherence to infection control and safety standards, ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Documentation: Record and maintain patient details, facilitate client appointments and communication, and ensure appropriate case charging.
  • Student Supervision: Assist in the supervision and assessment of DVM students.
  • Collaboration: Contribute to effective communication and foster working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You should also:

  • Possess relevant qualifications and experience in equine veterinary nursing or animal care.

  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Have a genuine interest in contributing to the education and training of veterinary students.
  • Be adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery.
