Position Highlights: The University of Arizona's Parking and Transportation Services department is seeking a qualified candidate to fill their Equipment Mechanic II position. This position will provide maintenance, repair and monitoring of university access and revenue control equipment and parking facilities for the Field Operations Team of Parking and Transportation Services (PTS). The primary function is to assist the Repair Engineer II and Director of Operations with general preventive and scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of mechanical, computer networking and electronics equipment using a variety of equipment to maintain all parking facilities and equipment in an operational status. This position also assists other department members with technical solutions for revenue control and parking systems, maintains accurate on-hand and consumption levels of supplies and submits reports for parking facilities and grounds.

The work schedule for this position is 6:00pm to 2:30am, Monday through Friday.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and test a variety of parking control and monitoring equipment. Troubleshoot and repair technical issues include, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical or information technology varieties, independently or collaboratively.
  • Performs daily upkeep and scheduled preventive maintenance of parking facilities and equipment to deliver consistent, reliable and excellent services to Parking and Transportation Services customers.
  • Performs short-notice and/or nonstandard repair and troubleshooting activities required to deliver Parking and Transportation Services excellence throughout campus.
  • Utilize a suite of computer applications and web applications to configure and control, maintain transaction/malfunction logging and monitor the performance of the department's equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting/moving up to 50 pounds often.
  • Lifting/moving more than 50 pounds rarely.

Work Environment

  • Outdoor Environment: Employees work outdoors and may not be protected from weather conditions.
  • Extreme Heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for more than an hour.
  • Extreme Cold: Temperatures below 40 degrees for more than an hour.
  • Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause you to shout to be heard above the noise level.
  • Hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving vehicles and exposure to chemicals in work setting.
  • Oils, paint and or solvents: There is air or skin exposure to oils, paint and/or fumes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational or technical training - Field of Study: Electronics or Mechanical preferred.
