Through consistent governance, high quality service delivery, and a commitment to excellence, the School ensures a research environment built on integrity, accountability, and innovation.
About the Role
This position is a key contributor to UOW’s partnership with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) through the ISLHD–UOW Joint Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC). In this role, you will provide high level operational, advisory, and governance support to ensure ethical and regulatory compliance across human research activities.
This position is integral to maintaining UOW’s reputation for ethical, responsible, and high quality research. You will work closely with committee members, researchers, clinical trial teams, and senior stakeholders to support ethical review processes, policy development, training, and clinical trial governance.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will support UOW’s human research ethics and clinical trial governance functions by preparing committee documentation, maintaining databases, responding to enquiries, and coordinating ethics reviews. You will interpret legislation and guidelines, contribute to policy development, support monitoring and reporting processes, and deliver training and educational resources. You will also provide tailored advice to researchers and students, assist with ethics and governance requirements for clinical trials, and collaborate with committees, researchers, and clinical partners to uphold ethical standards and strengthen UOW’s research culture.
What You’ll Bring
You will bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisation, sound judgement, and the ability to interpret ethical and regulatory requirements. Experience in regulatory or compliance focused environments will be highly regarded.
