The OKI team sits within the International, Engagement & Service (IES) Directorate at King’s which provides strategic leadership, governance and operational support for the University’s engagement with communities and partners in London, across the UK, and around the world. It is home to a portfolio of innovative programmes that generate and measure impact and serve the communities we work with and for.

About the Role

The Evaluation Manager is central to embedding the OKI approach across King’s. The postholder is responsible for the evaluation framework and reporting for OKI, covering both the OKI Fund and portfolio activities. They also lead on the development and implementation of a unified King's-wide approach to capturing, assessing, evaluating and reporting impact through the creation of a Digital Hub and a Social Impact Framework that aligns OKI data with King's broader impact ecosystems. The postholder will improve measures of social impact for external reporting and institutional-level benchmarking exercises, support reputation building, and enhance internal reporting and decision-making processes. They will also work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external consultants to deliver an evaluation plan that supports OKI’s transition from pilot to business-as-usual, using evidence to demonstrate impact and inform future investment and strategic alignment.

  • Lead the implementation of an evaluation framework for One King's Impact (OKI), covering both the OKI fund and portfolio activities, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external consultants.
  • Work with the Director of Service & Impact to design and deliver a Digital Hub and Social Impact Framework to integrate OKI data with King's broader impact ecosystems, enabling enhanced discoverability, collaboration, and tracking of impact for internal reporting, external benchmarking and reputation building.
  • Work with the Strategic Programme Manager (OKI) and Director of Service & Impact to develop and deliver an evaluation strategy to support OKI’s transition from pilot to business-as-usual, using evidence to guide future investment and alignment with university-wide strategic priorities.
  • Generate regular evaluation insights and reports to inform strategic decision-making and engage stakeholders across the institution.
  • Collaborate with academic and professional services colleagues to embed evaluation practices throughout OKI initiatives and ensure consistent data-informed approaches.
  • Synthesise data from multiple sources using diverse analytical methods to provide actionable insights that support the One King's Impact programme.
  • Communicate findings through innovative, accessible, and engaging formats to support evidence-based decision-making and foster a culture of data confidence.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Engagement Manager (One King’s Impact) and Senior Communications & Engagement Manager (International, Engagement & Service) on impact story-telling.
  • Engage with stakeholders across King's and OKI partners to understand analytical needs and deliver ongoing evaluation and reporting solutions.
  • Support and facilitate impact and evaluation workshops throughout the OKI programme lifecycle, including coordination with external facilitators.
  • Champion a data-informed culture by demonstrating the value of critical analysis and evidence-based approaches to impact evaluation.
  • Continuously enhance technical skills and expertise in emerging evaluation tools, techniques, and software to maintain cutting-edge practice.

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

The role offers flexibility on working hours and pattern, which may support applicants who have family, caring or similar responsibilities.

This is a part time post (21 hours a week), covering a period of Maternity Leave and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31/01/27

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Proven experience in designing and implementing evaluation frameworks, with an advanced understanding of impact assessment methodologies and tools.
  2. Understanding of impact and knowledge exchange in its widest context and appreciation of the different ways in which universities can contribute to society, the economy and the environment.
  3. Experience of working cross-organisationally in a complex organisation with competing priorities.
  4. Experience working with digital/reporting tools and data transformation applications, for example Fabric/Power BI, Tableau or Alteryx, with knowledge of relevant programming languages, for example Python, SQL, DAX or M Query.
  5. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data findings to the relevant audience in a range of formats and generate actionable insights.
  6. Strong project management skills and ability to deliver outcomes to deadlines.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at different levels.

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience developing digital hubs or knowledge exchange platforms.
  2. Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification.
  3. Experience of Fabric lakehouses, notebooks and pipelines.
  4. Understanding of external benchmarking practices and reputation-building strategies in higher education.
