About the Role:
The Event Support Officer supports the Major Events and Engagement Coordinator and Manager in the planning and execution of the University’s key strategic future student
events such as Open Day, The Melbourne Careers Expo, the VCE and Careers Expo, and other key recruitment events.
Salary: HEP 4 $72,808 - $77,259 per annum + 17% employer superannuation
Employment Type: Full-time Continuing
Hours: 36.75 per week
Location: Footscray Park
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the planning, coordination and delivery of major recruitment events and expos across physical and digital channels, including Open Day, Melbourne Careers Expo, VCE and Careers Expo, Victorian Careers Show, community events, Change of Preference Expo, and school-based activities.
Coordinate working groups and committee meetings for Open Day, including preparing agendas, recording and distributing minutes, managing the Open Day SharePoint site, and overseeing the Open Day inbox.
Manage the logistics of external recruitment events, including supplier coordination, resource management, and overseeing event bump-in and bump-out processes.
Provide hands-on support during events to ensure seamless delivery and a positive experience for prospective students and stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
The successful candidate will bring energy, initiative and a genuine passion for creating positive experiences for prospective students, along with:
Experience in events, marketing, student recruitment, customer service or administrative roles involving multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.Highly regarded experience in tertiary education or working with young people, complemented by a strong willingness to learn and an interest in student pathways.A hands-on approach, with the ability to move seamlessly between detailed planning, on-the-ground event delivery and proactive communication.Confidence supporting both physical and digital events, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability as priorities shift across the recruitment cycle.Strong organisational skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused mindset.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.The confidence and professionalism to represent Victoria University at large-scale expos and community events.A natural team player who builds positive relationships across Marketing, Future Students, academic areas and external partners.
The University is a Child Safe organisation. You will be required to hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment.
