We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Coordinator to join the UC Marketing, Communications & Events (MCE) team on a fixed-term contract, covering parental leave until March 2027. Based within MCE, this role plays a vital part delivering impactful events and activities that support student recruitment, engagement and reputation-building across UC. Through these activities, you will help attract future students to UC and strengthen connections with schools, industry partners and community networks.
Working as part of the MCE events team, you will bring operational expertise to event delivery. You will collaborate closely with faculty stakeholders and internal specialists, ensuring events are aligned with recruitment priorities and deliver a high-quality attendee experience. The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners, managing vendors, coordinating logistics and ensuring successful delivery against event objectives.
If you are an experienced event professional with strong organisational skills, excellent relationship management capability and a passion for creating meaningful engagement experiences, we would love to hear from you.

You are confident engaging with people face-to-face and comfortable speaking in front of groups. Whether welcoming attendees, providing directions, answering questions or guiding visitors through events, you bring a professional, approachable presence that helps create a positive and seamless experience.
Your creativity, problem-solving skills, and commitment to upholding cultural practices and traditions set you apart. You have a working knowledge of marketing principles, excellent communication skills, and a strong customer service orientation. You will actively embrace and promote the values of the University of Canterbury, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
