The role
The School of Modern Languages is seeking to recruit an exceptional Senior Student to support all teaching activities for the School’s degree programmes and UWLP – the University Wide Language programme.
The role is varied, fast paced and will suit those who enjoy collaborative working. The role requires someone who can work independently to organise and administer related processes and oversee the work of the School’s administrators by working in partnership with other senior members of the Education Team. A strong track-record in student-related administration is desirable as is the ability to manage multiple processes and projects at one time.
We offer blended working, with a mix of working in the office (minimum 3 days per week) and working from home, dependant on operational requirements.
What will you be doing?
The role holder will be responsible for ensuring a high-level of administrative support is provided to our undergraduate degree programmes, their student cohort and academic and teaching staff. The role leads on developing, documenting and implementing a constant set of procedures and processes, covering the full academic cycle, including student support, exception circumstances, UKVI monitoring, unit registration, assessment, feedback and examinations. As the role holder you will have the ability to work under pressure to important deadlines in a bustling School. The ability to manage your own workload is essential. A strong customer care orientation and commitment to service quality is also needed as is a friendly, patient and positive attitude.

- You have excellent prioritisation and organisation skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload with competing priorities in a very busy office.
- You have excellent IT skills, demonstrate a commitment to training and using University provided systems: Microsoft Office 365; sharepoint, onedrive, outlook, calendar, evision and Blackboard.
- You have an aptitude for dealing with a variety of situations, from being point of contact to point of escalation for complex enquiries in an interdisciplinary programme.
- You have a friendly can do and positive attitude.
