Executive Assistant
The Office of Legal Affairs, under the direction of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, provides legal representation and advice to the University and all of its constituent parts, including the Board of Trustees, the President, Provost, faculty and academic departments, the Office of Student Life, Human Resources, Advancement, Athletics, Public Safety, Business and Finance, and the Wexner Medical Center among many others. As one of the largest universities in the nation, Ohio State is a multifaceted institution, with a sophisticated and leading-edge legal practice that touches nearly every area of law, including litigation, labor and employment, public contracting, real estate and construction, intellectual property, research and technology transfer, business transactions, taxation and benefits, administrative law, health care law, public safety and criminal law matters, federal and state constitutional and public law issues, and more.
The Executive Assistant in the Office of Legal Affairs provides high-level administrative support to the Senior Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel (SAVP & DGC) and manages, directs, and oversees administrative functions of the SAVP & DGC’s office; researches information and provides guidance and recommendations to the SAVP & DGC on a broad range of issues, including those related to labor and employment legal services and special projects; serves as primary liaison between the SAVP & DGC and university leadership, including the Office of Human Resources, Wexner Medical Center leadership, deans, senior administrators, and key stakeholders across the university; interfaces with members of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees and external partners as appropriate; manages information of a highly sensitive and confidential nature while exercising sound judgment. Provides executive-level administrative and operational support in a complex, fast-paced legal environment; assesses priorities and coordinates a demanding calendar of meetings and commitments; evaluates inquiries directed to the SAVP & DGC, determines appropriate course of action, and delegates or responds accordingly; supports coordination of leadership meetings and cross-functional initiatives across legal practice areas.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent experience. Two (2) years of relevant experience required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Two to four (2-4) years of relevant experience preferred.
