Executive Director, Finance-UCR Health

If you are a Financial leader and interested in a growing career opportunity, UCR Health is seeking an experienced Executive Director of Finance to lead and direct accounting and financial operations in collaboration with UCR Health leadership, campus, and UCOP. Responsibilities will include developing, and maintaining accounting systems and controls, strategic planning with senior leaders, representing the clinical enterprise in systemwide meetings and discussions. Partnering with the CEO and other senior leaders in making final decisions for the organization will also be critical as well as ensuring achievement of objectives.
This position is currently under review and is being considered at job code/job title: 005631 - ACCOUNTING MGR 3 HC. If approved the full salary range for this position is: $161,500 - $326,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $275,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, relevant experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Requirements:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Required). Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Preferred).
- Experience Requirements: 10-15 years of related experience in a healthcare organization (Required). Previous supervisory experience (Required).
- Special Conditions: Exercise the utmost discretion in managing sensitive information.
- Minimum Requirements: Highly advanced knowledge of finance and accounting in an academic medical center, hospital system, or public accounting with healthcare clients; Highly advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements; Highly advanced problem solving and analytical skills; Highly advanced interpersonal skills; Advanced skills in identifying process improvements and leading successful change management; Advanced management and leadership skills; Highly developed judgment, decision-making, and critical thinking skills; Current knowledge of accounting best practices; Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads continuous review of processes and procedures. Recommends process and policy changes as necessary to improve performance. Makes recommendations on financial policies, systems and controls. Develops and leads communication methods to adequately and properly consult and inform Chairs about new policies, processes and/or business models.
- Educates managers on accounting policies and procedures. Works collaboratively with finance managers and departments to support financial operations. Develops the annual budget for UCR Health, and business proformas. Ensures proper patient charge capture, billing, coding, and reconciliation systems.
- Represents clinical enterprise at system-wide meetings and serves on committees. Represents UCR Health on internal and external workgroups. Develops meaningful financial reports, physician dashboards, and other reports.
- Establishes monthly close schedule. Develops monthly financial reporting package. Oversees the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports. Ensures fiscal responsibility in financial expenditure processing.
- Leads reviews of risk areas including revenue accounting, recharges and recoveries. Provides oversight, vision and guidance to the revenue cycle, clinical financial reporting, and clinical financial analytics units.
- Provides direction to subordinate managers on setting goals and objectives, performance management, and career development.
- Oversees accounting and financial reporting for joint ventures and other external affiliations.
- Oversees year-end external audit and quarterly and annual regulatory reporting.
- Establishes department productivity goals and objectives.
- Partners with IT on accounting and financial information system upgrades.
- Manages, develops, and monitors financial and internal controls.
- Supervises the construction of complex forecasting models. Identifies key performance indicators and benchmark information.
- Oversees management of health sciences incentive payouts and stipends, including verification of supporting calculations.
