Executive Vice President and Provost
Summary
The Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP) at Metropolitan College of New York provides senior leadership of the college’s academic programs and their continuous improvement and innovation consistent with the college’s unique and innovative model of education (Purpose-Centered Education). The EVPP provides leadership that encourages faculty collaboration and integration through holistic approaches to student success grounded in academic excellence and continuous improvement. The EVPP reports directly to the president and is a member of the president’s senior leadership team. The EVPP is responsible for ensuring that the college’s academic programs meet the standards and expectations of the New York State Education Department, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and programmatic accreditors. The EVPP serves as the college’s accreditation liaison officer.
Major Responsibilities
- To foster an understanding of Purpose-Centered Education among students, faculty members, colleagues, and the general public.
- To lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of new academic programs.
- To provide direction and vision for all of the college’s academic programs.
- To oversee the budgets for the college’s academic programs and departments.
- To represent the college to external constituents and partners.
- To oversee the faculty promotion and contract renewal process.
- To oversee the Welfare to Careers program.
- To directly supervise the dean and associate dean for academic affairs.
- To oversee the recruitment and development of new members of the faculty and the academic affairs leadership team.
- To oversee the design and delivery of the student learning experience (Middle States Standard IV)
- To oversee educational effectiveness assessment. (Middle States Standard V)
- To ensure academic quality through accreditation services and data-driven decision-making.
- To ensure compliance with institutional, state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
Job Qualifications
- Commitment to working within and creatively applying the College’s educational model of Purpose-Centered Education (PCE).
- At least 5 years of administrative experience at the level of dean or above in higher education and earned doctorate or equivalent combination of credentials and experience.
- Significant teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience in academic administration in higher education including curriculum and program development and assessment, operational management, online learning, and strategic planning.
- Ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of academic, administrative, and personnel issues while focusing on the College’s mission, goals, needs and priorities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and budget management skills; effective communication skills; sound decision-making skills; and a results-oriented, positive approach to problem solving.
- Experience working with a diverse student body in an urban setting desired.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices in online and hybrid education, with the ability to guide the development of high-quality digital and hybrid programs aligned with institutional and workforce needs.
- Fluency in Spanish, French, Creole or other languages.
- Ability to begin the job by June, 2026.
