Extension Faculty – 4-H Youth Development/Agriculture & Natural Resources
The University of Idaho Extension is seeking applicants for a 12-month non-tenure track Associate Extension Educator with Sr. Instructor standing to serve the 4-H/Youth Development-Agriculture & Natural Resources-Community Development program in cooperation with the Coeur d'Alene tribe along with other tribal community resource partners including the USDA NIFA. The position is in Benewah County and will be housed in Plummer, Idaho as part of the Coeur d'Alene Tribal offices. This is a grant-funded position through the Federally Recognized Tribal Extension Program (FRTEP).
The Extension Educator will provide overall leadership and organization for educational programs in 4-H Youth and adult volunteer development on the Coeur d'Alene Reservation in collaboration with public schools and other partners in the area. In addition, the educator will provide programming for Agriculture and Natural Resources with an emphasis on sustainable agricultural production and profitability within the Coeur d'Alene Reservation. The educator will collaborate with community and economic development partners in programs related to agriculture, natural resources, and youth life-skill development.
In cooperation with University of Idaho Specialists, Tribal Advisory committees, Extension Educators, and governmental agencies, the educator will plan, develop, and implement educational programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources emphasizing sustainable agricultural production and profitability. The educator will, with direction from Tribal Advisory Committees, develop and facilitate collaborative educational programs that meet clientele needs (90%). The educator will evaluate and report program impacts, provide technology transfer from the University of Idaho to clientele, and provide agricultural and natural resource expertise to the Coeur d'Alene Reservation. The Educator will publish in high-quality refereed journals and peer-reviewed extension publications, present at professional conferences, submit proposals, and secure funding to support this scholarly and creative work (5%). The Educator will serve on district, college, and university-wide committees, in other community leadership roles, and with professional organizations, and will build/maintain positive relationships with stakeholders (5%).
