F0078 Tenure Track Assistant Professor - Theatre Generalist & House Manager

Job Duties

Norfolk State University seeks to fill a 9-month Tenure-Track position for a Theatre Generalist & House Manager.

The faculty member will:

  • Teach three sections of Intro to Theatre per semester and/or other eligible courses of instruction as needed.
  • Receive a one-course reduction for support to the NSU Theatre Company, primarily as House Manager for all performances for the NSU Theatre Company. House Management duties include facilitating the record of attendance for all Intro to Theatre students for their required attendance for class, supervising all hosts, and facilitating an exceptional front-of-house experience for all guests.
  • Be available as needed during evening and weekend rehearsals and productions.
  • Maintain Regular Office Hours
  • Actively participate in committee work.
  • Produce and engage in university service, scholarly research and creative activity

Minimum Qualifications

  • An MFA in an area of Theatre or Drama.
  • Experience in House Management and/or Stage Management.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in the faculty member’s area of study.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant expertise and experience in both performance and design technology
