Job Summary

The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering (ECEE) welcomes applications for a Facilities Assistant! This role will work with the Laboratory and Facilities Coordinator within ECEE in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, staging and moving furniture and equipment, supporting the property surplus/disposal process, issuing facilities work requests and following up on their completion, assisting with property inventory, and other miscellaneous facilities issues.

This is a 50% appointment. This position will work fully on campus (no remote work possible), however flexible scheduling is available.

Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at CU Boulder is the premier undergraduate and graduate program in Colorado by reputation, rankings and size. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Facilities Assistant:

  • Process facilities service requests as needed and follow-up on their completion, keeping collaborators advised of the status.
  • Assist with moving furniture and equipment as necessary for various department spaces and purposes.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities and Lab Coordinator to manage the storage facility.
  • Prepare and process property disposals or surplus.
  • Assist with property and equipment inventory control and reporting.
  • Aid in securing equipment and peripherals to prevent theft (e.g., computer equipment in teaching labs).
  • Support with the removal of locks on lockers and other storage items after students leave campus.

Meetings and Project Support:

  • Attend facilities and other meetings, as appropriate.
  • Assist with special projects, as needed.

What You Should Know

Position works 20 hours per week Monday-Friday during standard business hours. The hours worked are flexible. Work performed is on campus - no remote work available.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this 50% time position is $25,000 - $27,500.

If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.

What We Require

  • Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
  • Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must be a Colorado resident to apply.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to lift, push, pull 50-100 lbs.
  • Ability to work in musty, dark, or dusty conditions.
  • Digital literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to thrive independently as well as on a team.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Approachable and highly customer service oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural, political, and geographical differences with ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students from around the world.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience with facilities project tracking.
  • Proficiency with Excel.
