Faculty Assistant I - Arts and Sciences, Anthropology
Position Summary
This position assists instructors in the classroom and online (as needed) and must be available as a tutor for the students of the assigned courses. In addition, this position assists the Department Chair and/or Director of Undergraduate Studies in developing and implementing strategies and practices for improving undergraduate student learning.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist instructors in the classroom and online (if necessary) and be available to students of the assigned courses as a tutor.
- Have the capability of assisting in classes spanning all three major sub-disciplines of Anthropology.
- Grade exams and papers.
- Conduct review sessions.
- Advise students.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Typically sitting at a desk or table. Office equipment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Good time management. Excellent oral communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or Ph.D. in anthropology from a three or four-field department. Experience teaching online. Experience with Canvas. Broad teaching skills in all areas of anthropology. One to three years of teaching, or teaching assistance experience, in a college or university, or one-time attendance at the summer teaching assistant orientation hosted by the Teaching Center.
