Faculty Associate - Research (AD-3)

The Physics Department of the Naval Postgraduate School invites applications for a research assistant/associate position with experience in microfluidics, 3D printing, and biofuel cells. Applicants must show a history of work in these or closely aligned areas. The official position title is defined as “Faculty Associate – Research.”

The Physics Department has a long history of excellence in materials, sensing, and weapon systems. This position would support growing research programs in microfluidics, 3D printing, and biofuel cells, in addition to supporting similar efforts in other departments across campus. As an employee of the Naval Postgraduate School, the incumbent would also have the opportunity to pursue graduate studies in a related field.

Minimum requirements:

  • Must able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Minimum qualifications:

  • An earned graduate degree in a discipline that supports the research line and departmental thesis needs.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for scientific research; and
  • Demonstrated ability to work with student researchers.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Strong preference given to candidates with a background in physics or mechanical engineering.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with experience in microfluidics.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with experience in biofuel cells.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with established record in experimental research.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with established first-author publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
