"Faculty Position in Biological Sciences"

Vibrant, multidisciplinary and innovative, the Faculty of Arts and Science is one of Université de Montréal’s largest faculties. The Department of Biological Sciences brings together research teams committed to training qualified scientists and responsible citizens by engaging in research to advance knowledge and promoting high-quality teaching. The department is made up of experts working in a multidisciplinary context to explore and understand all facets of life—animal, plant, and microbial—from molecules to ecosystems—and to promote a sustainable environment for future generations. Faculty members in the department have access to high-quality facilities, including the Laurentian Biology Station, which allows for the planning of medium- and long-term field studies. The successful candidate will be based at the Science Complex on the MIL campus. The successful candidate will be eligible to apply for a philanthropic chair.

Day-to-day responsibilities
Through your undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, and your research activities, you will contribute to the faculty’s pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, you will promote your discipline and actively participate in the daily activities of a renowned institution. As such, you will:

• Develop an innovative, internationally competitive research program that explores the effects of anthropogenic disturbances on animal systems in the context of global change.
• Teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in biological sciences and contribute to the Master’s program in Environment and Sustainable Development.
• Contribute to the operation and development of the Department of Biological Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and the Université de Montréal through participation in committees and working groups.
• Participate in knowledge dissemination and the outreach of the University through conferences, publications, and scientific activities.

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD in biological sciences or a related discipline.
• Have an excellent publication record in the field of environmental endocrinology or ecoimmunology.
• Demonstrate the potential to develop internal, national, and international collaborations.
• Demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality university teaching and student supervision.
• Have adequate proficiency of the French language or be committed to learning it once hired, through the Université de Montréal’s French language support program, in accordance with the Université de Montréal language policy.
