Faculty Position - Pain Research (Tenure Track)

About the Job

  • Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent degree.
  • Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong record of research productivity. Evidence of an established research program with transferrable external funding is required.
  • Eligible candidates must have movable NIH RO1 funding or equivalent.
  • Academic rank and appointment type (tenure track or tenured) will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments.

The position provides opportunities for collaboration with investigators in the University of Minnesota Health Sciences including the schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Public Health. Candidates will have the opportunity to mentor and teach PhD, MD/PhD and medical students. Start-up funds and laboratory space are available. Clinician-Scientists are encouraged to apply.

About the Department

The Department of Anesthesiology in the University of Minnesota Medical School, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Pain Consortium, is seeking an accomplished basic scientist specializing in pain research to join a large, collaborative multidisciplinary community of researchers focused on pain and analgesia research. The ideal candidate is someone experienced in using state-of-the art approaches and whose work complements and expands on our existing research strengths.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $110,000 - $215,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff

The pain community is well connected with the University's Medical Discovery Team on Addiction. This mixture provides a highly enriched environment and fosters strong collaborations and interdisciplinary training opportunities. There are many opportunities for collaboration between clinicians and basic scientists.
