Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) is one of the first key universities selected for priority development and among the first batch of institutions included in Zhejiang Province’s initiative to build high-level universities. Established in 1956 in Hangzhou, the university now operates across four campuses: Jinhua Campus (main campus), Hangzhou Xiaoshan Campus, Hangzhou Xihu Campus, and Lanxi Campus. ZJNU hosts a vibrant community. The university currently enrolls nearly 29,000 full-time undergraduate students (including junior college students), over 10,000 graduate students, and more than 1,400 international students. The university employs over 3,000 full-time faculty members, including 86 top-tier national-level talents such as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Academia Europaea, along with 126 provincial and ministerial-level experts. ZJNU’s research strength is further demonstrated through its 2 National Bases for Innovation and Introducing Talents under the “111 Plan”. Its dedication to excellence is reflected in 10 disciplines—mathematics, chemistry, engineering, materials science, environment/ecology, computer science, plant & animal science, social sciences (general), psychiatry/psychology, and physics—which rank in the top 1% globally by ESI. Furthermore, its 15 disciplines are recognized as the provincial top disciplines. The university offers 40 national-level courses, operates four national experimental teaching demonstration centers, and is home to the China-Mozambique “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory for Smart Agriculture, which was selected for the fourth batch of national "Belt and Road" joint laboratories by the Ministry of Science and Technology. ZJNU has received over 20 national awards, including: First Prize in National Teaching Achievement Awards, First Prize in Outstanding Research Achievement Awards for Higher Education Institutions (Humanities and Social Sciences), Second Prize in the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, and more. III. Talent Categories, Eligibility, and Benefits
The university welcomes applications year-round from outstanding scholars around the world across a range of academic disciplines. Based on candidates’ teaching and research accomplishments, positions are offered at three levels: Distinguished Professor, “Shuanglong Scholar” Distinguished Professor, and Early-Career PhD Graduate, along with opportunities for Full-time Postdoctoral Fellow. The specific qualifications and corresponding benefits for each category are outlined below:

“Shuanglong Scholar” Distinguished Professor | Tier A | Applicants whose teaching and research achievements meet or are close to the level of Zhejiang Province’s major talent programs, or who have comparable academic standing internationally, and who meet the required performance criteria, will receive compensation and benefits in line with the “Shuanglong Scholar” Distinguished Professor (Tier A) package. | Competitive salary, relocation allowance, and research start-up funding. Additional housing allowance provided for exceeding performance targets, along with extra performance-based bonuses; Access to advanced research platforms and ample laboratory and office facilities; Transitional housing provided; Priority access to quotas for supervising master's and PhD students, as well as postdoctoral researchers, depending on team needs; Children eligible to attend the university’s affiliated kindergarten, primary, and middle schools; Assistance in applying for local government talent benefits. |
Tier B | Applicants whose teaching and research achievements meet or are close to the level of Zhejiang Province’s major early-career talent programs, or who have comparable academic standing internationally, and who meet the required performance criteria, will receive compensation and benefits in line with the “Shuanglong Scholar” Distinguished Professor (Tier B) package. | ||
Tier C | Professors with notable academic influence will receive compensation and benefits in accordance with the Tier C package. Exceptionally outstanding early-career PhDs or postdoctoral fellows applying for the “Shuanglong Scholar” Distinguished Professor position are expected to submit five representative publications that demonstrate strong originality and significant academic impact. | ||
Early Career Talent | University-appointed Professor | Early-career PhDs who meet the performance standards required for university-appointed professorships. | Base annual salary plus position-based allowances.
