Job Summary

This position aims to provide literacy instruction to elementary students at Fast Start Academy. Instructors will plan and deliver whole-class and small-group instruction.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Plans, organizes, develops, and teaches literacy lessons to elementary school students.
2. Collaborates with other instructors to prepare lesson plans.
3. Responsible for preparing and submitting lesson plans for literacy instruction
4. Assists with the planning, instruction, and evaluation of literacy activities
5. Makes recommendations on students' strengths and needs
6. Reports student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license

Required Experience
One (1) year of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Experience working with children
Experience with planning, organizing, and implementing lesson plans with elementary students.

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlines

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
