Fellows-in-Residence
The Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University invites applications from a broad range of researchers and practitioners who will work on pressing issues in ethics. Faculty in arts and sciences and professional schools, postdoctoral scholars, practitioners, and researchers from industry, government, and NGOs are eligible to apply. The call for applications for the 2026-27 academic year is open to any topic pertaining to serious ethical questions. The Center is continuing work on an interdisciplinary research network exploring the ethical and political dimensions of disagreement. Philosophers, humanists, social psychologists, and researchers from relevant domains are invited to apply, with priority for early career scholars and those working on disagreement.
Fellows-in-Residence will devote the majority of their time to individual projects and participate in regular work-in-progress seminars. They are encouraged to engage in the Center's programming, including public lectures, seminars, reading groups, conferences, workshops, and lunch discussions.
This Fellowship is residential, requiring presence in the Boston area at least four working days per week and at the Center's office space at least three days per week, except for travel to conferences.
Joint fellowship opportunities are available with other Harvard Centers, such as the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society, Carr-Ryan Center for Human Rights, Center for Bioethics, Hutchins Center for African & African American Research, and Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology and Bioethics. Applicants can indicate interest in these on the application form.
