Finance Assistant
Finance Assistant
School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford
Play a key role in delivering high-quality financial support across the School of Geography and the Environment and its three hosted research centres.
As Finance Assistant, you will manage day-to-day purchasing-to-pay operations, supporting staff and researchers across a diverse portfolio of projects, including large and complex research grants. Working closely with the Finance and Research Team, you will raise requisitions and purchase orders in Oracle, process invoices and expense claims, reconcile credit cards, monitor budgets, and help ensure compliance with University financial regulations and funder requirements.
You will act as a first point of contact for finance queries, providing clear and practical guidance to colleagues on procurement processes, financial systems, and policy requirements. The role offers excellent exposure to financial processes within a dynamic academic environment and would suit someone who is highly organised, numerate, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
We are looking for someone with experience in financial administration, strong attention to detail, confidence working with computerised finance systems and Excel, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. A collaborative approach and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance are essential.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your finance career within a supportive and professional university setting.
