Position Description
Performs central accounting and financial analysis functions according to established procedures.
Major/Essential Functions
Performs central accounting functions for Property Management within Accounting Services in accordance with State of Texas Comptroller policies, supporting accurate management of real and personal property (excluding real estate oversight or analysis).
Responsibilities for this role include maintaining the fixed asset system by recording daily transactions such as additions, updates and disposals, and processing related activity including requisitions, procurement card transactions and journal vouchers to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
Maintains documentation for controlled and capital assets, supports campus departments by resolving asset-related inquiries and assisting with annual certifications, and performs compliance reviews, data analysis and reporting to ensure accurate financial records and capital asset reporting.
Assist in maintaining the fixed asset system, including property custodian and delegate records by reviewing and entering daily transactions to establish or update records for university capital and controlled assets. Data entry includes but is not limited to asset date additions, updates and disposals for acquisitions by purchase, inter-agency transfers or gifts.
Process, review, monitor and retain accounting transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness and conformance to governing regulations and university policy. This includes review (and/or entry as applicable) of purchase requisitions, procurement card transactions and journal vouchers (for coding changes or otherwise) involving controlled and capital asset account codes. Ensure proper documentation is maintained for assigned controlled and capital inventory and projects.
Respond to campus inquiries and address property management and asset accounting issues to support departments in their management of asset purchases, transfers and disposals. Assist with department inventory reviews and inquiries for annual inventory certification to ensure accuracy of property records and compliance with university policy and procedure as assigned.
Perform compliance reviews, edit checks and other periodic data analysis in accordance with department policy and procedure in preparation of Note 2 Capital Asset schedule for annual financial reporting or other intermittent reporting on university assets. Assist with data table and attribute maintenance or other reporting or data consistency reviews as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience OR combination of education and experience to equal 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education or governmental accounting (including Federal and State regulations and institutional policy) fund accounting, Banner, Cognos, and Fixed Assets.
- Accounting or finance degree, CPA or CPA candidate, CGFM or CGFM candidate, customer service.
Pay Range
$25.91 - $33.70 - $41.44
