Job Summary
The Financial Analyst conducts and manages fiscal and accounting activities for a department, program, or division and to increase awareness of fiscal policies and procedures.
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for collaboration with department, program, or division fiscal related matters, evaluate financial analysis and data reporting on cost activities. Communicate complex financial data in clear, concise and actionable terms.
- Evaluates fiscal operations for a department, program, or division to include supporting monthly usage verification, invoicing, tracking accounts receivable, conducting collections, auditing financial data, developing, and contributing to the production of monthly reports and reconciliation of accounts.
- Serves as the point of contact for internal and external clients including coordinating external client unilateral agreements and executing business contracts.
- Creates recharge proposals that include detailed cost analysis, usage projections, strategic budget, rate calculation and subsidy proposals.
- Reviews, analyzes, and develops reporting to ensure all recharge operations comply with federal, state, University of Texas System and UTSA laws/policies and recovers cost base to avoid impacts on other resources.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and performance indicators.
- Develops all required financial reporting, including fiscal year end processes and reporting.
- Develop dashboards automation tools and templates for regular and ad hoc financial reports to improve efficiency and accuracy for management and leadership decisions.
- Build and maintain financial models to support planning, investment and operational decisions.
- Reviews standard reports and develops specialized reports used for analysis of accounting transactions and to support accounting records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Three (3) years of related work experience
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years of professional experience in accounting and/or fiscal administration with knowledge of fund accounting procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial management and internal controls.
- Knowledge of state and federal policies and procedures.
- Strong mathematical and computation skills.
- Proficient in financial accounting systems and software.

- Office Environment.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.
This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
