Financial Analyst
Job Summary
The College of Humanities at the University of Utah is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the implementation of a coordinated services for finance. This position will primarily serve a shared service cluster, which includes the Departments of English and Writing & Rhetoric Studies. The financial analyst will play a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, financial oversight, and compliance, ensuring the financial health and strategic planning of the college's academic units.

Responsibilities
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Oversight
- Develop, monitor, and reconcile budgets for departments and academic units.
- Conduct monthly and annual variance reporting and fiscal year-end reconciliation.
- Perform financial modeling and forecasting for tuition, funding sources, and departmental initiatives.
- Prepare and review strategic financial reports including Development/Research Finance Reports and Pinnacle Reviews.
Financial Transactions & Approvals
- Review and approve financial transactions including ePAF, eJournal entries, cost transfers, and payroll adjustments.
- Manage purchasing processes including P-card transactions, travel reimbursements, and vendor payments.
Research & Funding Support
- Assist with budget development for internal and external funding proposals.
- Forecast research overhead and monitor faculty development/research activity funding.
Departmental & Faculty Support
- Conduct finance orientation for new faculty and provide hiring support through salary analysis.
- Manage annual salary letters and retirement agreement processing.
- Supervise finance-related staff and route professional support requests.
Student & Course-Related Finance
- Administer and reconcile student course fees and support tuition-setting processes.
- Assist with budgeting for graduate students and the Tuition Benefit Program.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare detailed transaction reports and ensure compliance with university policies and funding requirements.
- Support monthly close activities and fiscal year-end processes.
