Summary of Position
The Fine Woodworking Department at RRCC is seeking a Teacher's Assistant to assist students and faculty in the wood shop area. The teacher's Assistant supports the instructor with preparing the classroom and for lab demonstrations, assists students with classroom assignments, gathers and prepares materials, and helps clean up and maintain the class and shop spaces.
This position reports to the FIW Shop Manager, Jeff Rabideau. The work schedule for this position is Saturdays, 9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. at the Lakewood Campus location. May require hours outside of normal work schedule.
This position may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Ability to maintain and repair woodworking machinery, minor electrical connections and diagnostics.
- Must be efficient in all aspects of Electric Guitar construction to include a broad scope of Luthier techniques.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a certificate in Electric Guitar Construction and a minimum of 6 months working within the field.
- Completion of course FIW 101, Intro to Woodworking and/or experience in woodworking preferred
- Supporting role with a minimum of 1 year of experience crafting and constructing Electric Guitars.
- Provisional duties include preparing and readying materials for the instructor as well support in guidance and knowledge of students.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
Advertised Hourly Pay
The hourly pay for this position is $19.31, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
